Since 2002, the Music Club has been working closely with the Maricopa Community College District Foundation to establish a Sun City Grand Music Club Scholarship at Glendale Community College (GCC) to benefit Music Majors. The initial gift of $2,000 was the first of many annual gifts made by the Club to supplement the Endowment. Today, the Club has donated more than $70,000 to the Endowment which annually awards more than $3,000 to deserving music students.
Over the past several years, scholarship students have been invited to perform in the annual Sun City Grand Classical Concert. We have had exceptional performances by talented classical musicians and vocalists. In addition to enhancing our members’ performances and delighting our audiences, we have used this opportunity to present our scholarship donation check to the GCC President and Chair of Performing Arts.
Today, the relationship between GCC Performing Arts and the Sun City Grand Music Club is strong as our Scholarship provides significant support to our future musicians, many of whom have gone on to complete their bachelor’s degrees.
