The 2019 Grand Singers and Chorale Holiday Concert is entitled Holiday Memories: Linking the Past to the Future. Let’s commemorate another season of joy and jubilation with the 144-voice Chorus and 32-voice Chorale under the direction of Pamela Weir. Your nostalgic, creative energy will build as you recall memories from childhood while enjoying songs like I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and I’m Gettin’ Nuttin’ for Christmas, and those favorite, traditional tunes will manifest more holiday cheer thanks to Jingle Bells, Ding Dongs, Silver Bells, and Silent Nights or Sleigh Rides. Without a doubt, the merriest of holidays include loving memories, important traditions, and a healthy laughter among family and friends, and our program reflects those qualities with National Lampoon’s Vacation; you’ll be astounded and amused by the spin of Holiday Road as it combines with Christmas carols. What a gift to celebrate this holiday season with the Grand Singers!

David Durham and several members of the SCG Acoustic Instrument Group will once again be filling the Sonoran Ballroom with the lively and fun sounds of an old fashioned Hootenanny (sing along!!) This will be the traditional holiday version with the first half of the show featuring many of your favorite 50’s and 60’s sing-a-longs – folk, western and rock & roll. The second half will be holiday-themed songs, some traditional and some humorous. As usual, this will be a spirited event with song lyrics shown on the three overhead screens. The accompaniment will be provided by guitars, mandolins, bass, harmonica and drum. The AIG voices, along with yours – will make for one lively evening of song. All of the previous Hootenanny’s have sold out quickly, and this one will, as well – get your tickets soon and get ready to sing!

Mario Carboni has been one of the Cimarron Nightclub’s favorite performers for several years. Now the “Honky Tonk Rebel” brings his best performance to the Sonoran ballroom stage. And for this show, he’s proud to be joined by Norm Hamlet, Merle Haggard’s longtime bandleader and Steel Guitar Hall of Fame Inductee. In addition to great vocals, Mario’s unique show includes him playing the trumpet with one hand while his other hand flies over the piano keys honky-tonk style. These two professional musicians are currently touring with this show and the Grand is lucky that they have found time in their schedule to do a show for us.

This award-winning duo has performed in the Nightclub before - always selling out their shows and receiving rave reviews. Brian and Marty draw on traditional Celtic music and original Americana songs that reflect their Irish heritage and Midwestern roots. Playing an exciting mix of mandolin, guitar and bass, their harmonies have won them comparisons to famous duos such as the Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel and The Righteous Brothers. With stunning vocal blends, they will perform some of our favorite traditional Irish songs like Danny Boy, Galway Bay, My Wild Irish Rose and more, along with some traditional Celtic music for which they're famed.

“The Salty Dawgs” are a Sun City Grand folk music group, comprised of David Durham, Don Bollard, Patrick Watts, Jan Huber and Mike Bastien. They have entertained many enthusiastic audiences around the West Valley, but this will be their first time headlining a show at the Sonoran Ballroom. Their music is largely from the time of the Kingston Trio, with some original tunes thrown in – and a lot of it you will be able to sing along with. They will be joined by guest appearances from “The Sun City Boys,” “The Ukulele Divas” and “The Bluegrass Boys.” These guys – and their friends – know how to have fun with their music – and you will leave this show with a smile on your face and a song in your heart!
