Grand Singers Get Ready

Published on 11/18/2022

On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the Grand Singers kicked off with the first of many rehearsals for their upcoming winter concert entitled “It’s a Grand Holiday!” The Grand Singers, under the direction of Pamela Weir and accompanied by Marilyn Sassman, are a chorus of your friends and neighbors.

They enjoy singing songs in a wide range of musical styles in four-part harmony, all accompanied by a professional backup band. This year’s concert includes popular swinging tunes such as "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle All the Way," and "A Marshmallow World." The chorus is also getting in the holiday mood with beautiful renditions of "The Holly and the Ivy," "The Candle Is a Symbol," and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear."

The Grand Singers usually perform two concerts each year, a Spring concert in April and a holiday concert in December. Because of lockdowns and the challenges of the COVID pandemic, their schedule was substantially changed with no spring concerts in 2020, 2021 and 2022. However, they were able to have a holiday concert in December 2021 and the whole group is excited about another concert this December.

“Holy cow! It's really happening,” wrote Director Pamela Weir to the group before their first rehearsal. “I feel like a little kid getting ready for her first day of school!”

The Grand Singers and Chorale will perform “It’s A Grand Holiday!” in the Sonoran Ballroom at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 3;  and 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4. Tickets are on sale so order soon because their shows always sellout. This year the singers will be joined by some very special guests making for a delightful show.

Whether you join your friends and neighbors in singing or you join us in the audience, come and enjoy “It’s A Grand Holiday!” this December.
